Alpha Arts & Science College popularly known as Alpha College is one of the leading and premier self-financing arts and science colleges in Chennai.

The college was started in the year 1996 with affiliation to University of Madras. The college is a part of the Alpha Group of Institutions, a group who has more than 4 decades of rich experience in the education industry.

The sprawling campus is located in Thundalam, Porur in the suburbs of Chennai right behind Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute.

The Alpha Arts and Science College is constituent sponsored by the Alpha Educational Society. The Society, is a registered non-profit educational society under the Society Registration Act, 1860. Alpha Arts and Science College is part of the four decade old Alpha Group of Institutions. The College is a private unaided, co-educational Arts and Science College approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu and affiliated to the University of Madras. The College, started in the year 1996 - 97 was upgraded as a Post Graduate Institution in the year 2001 - 02.
The College has highly qualified and experienced faculty and excellent infrastructural facilities. The institution is attempting to create a benchmark by incorporating new initiatives in the field of education through its innovative learning methodologies. Alpha Arts and Science College believes that teaching is a key part of the learning process. The College is a hub for dedicated, talented, experienced teachers who motivate encourage, guide and energise students to achieve the best.
The laboratories are designed with highly sophisticated equipments and instruments which provide ample opportunities to students for grasping practical knowledge and implementing theoretical classroom learning in practice. Various student clubs related to arts, science, sports and culture contribute towards the enhancement of the co-curricular activities of the students.
The college in a short span of 10 years has carved a niche for itself and attracts students from all over India, in addition to foreign students from Bangladesh, Kenya, Mauritius, Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, Srilanka, Maldives, Oman etc.
Though an institution of recent origin, the college is rich in its quality of activities and achievements. The primary aim of the institution is to provide students a conducive learning environment, to help them to develop their full academic potential and to equip them to face a highly competitive world. The institution is also committed to character building by imparting sound values in this formative and impressionable stage of the student's development.
Administration & Faculty : The College is administered by the Chairperson and Founder, Dr.(Mrs.) GRACE GEORGE who is ably assisted by the Director, Ms. Suja George and the Principal, Dr.S.Ramaratnam in all administrative and academic matters. The management is assisted by a highly qualified and resourceful teaching faculty who look after the day to day smooth and disciplined functioning of the students. The faculty team consists of highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty members committed to striving hard for academic excellence and imparting wholesome education to the students.
Career Placement Campus recruitment is one of the important aspects of our institution and eminent organizations are invited for recruitment annually.

Career Guidance A comprehensive Career Guidance Programme is offered to our students to help them plan their higher studies. In January 2001, a Career uidance booklet specially meant for under graduate students was compiled under the guidance of Mr.T.N.Seshan, Former Chief Election Commissioner, Govt. of India and was released by him during the later-University Symposium ALPHATECH-2001. The booklet offers various opportunities in India & abroad for further studies and employment. It is available in the college library for reference.
Academic Achievements Every year most of the departments perform very well in the Madras University Examination getting 100% results with 100% first classes. The hard work and dedication of our academic staff is fruitful enough for our students to bag university ranks year after year.

Infrastructural Facilities A spacious library, the seat of knowledge, entertains and evokes enthusiasm among the students with its interesting collection of books. A variety of journals are also within reach to assimilate and enhance awareness.
Viscom Studio : A State of the art studio with a shooting floor, an editing suite and screening room are available for the Viscom students.
Internet connection is made available to students to keep abreast of the latest changes in all fields of study.
The vast sportsfield around the college provides for the physical display of students.
Varied athletic events are conducted for aspiring sports persons at Alpha.
Hostel accommodation is provided both to boys and girls of the college at separate locations. The boys hostel with all modern facilities is housed in the campus itself and the girls hostel is located in a beautiful and serene campus near the college at walking distance.
The College has well-organised transportation facility covering all parts of the city to enable easy commuting.
Extra Curricular Activities Extra curricular activities form an integral part of our students college life. Our students are encouraged to take part in various cultural events and inter-collegiate competitions.
(a) N.S.S. The Institution has a N.S.S. unit under the care of trained Programme Officer. It undertakes regular social service activities including adult education programmes and health camps in nearby villages.
(b) Red Cross Society
The unit of Youth Red Cross Society of the college is affiliated to Indian Red Cross Society and membership is open to all students. Blood donation camps conducted by Red Cross Society are held regularly.
(c) Culturals Cultural activities form an integral part of the curriculum and hence is given all encouragement, to bring out the hidden talents of the students.
