Along Came a Spider is a 2008 concept album by veteran rock performer Alice Cooper, and is the 25th studio album by the artist. His last studio album Dirty Diamonds, was released three years ago in 2005. This album is set for release on July 29th 2008 in North America.
The track listing for the album is : “Catch Me”, “Hungry”, “I Am The Spider”, “I Know Where You Live”, “(In Touch With) Your Feminine Side”, “Killed By Love”, “Salvation”, “The One That Got Away”, “Vengeance Is Mine”, “Wake The Dead”, “Wrapped In Silk”.[1]
Cooper gave details on his radio show (Nights With Alice Cooper) of the album's storyline and that the theme of the album revolves around a “cool, calm and collected” [2]serial killer named Spider, and the eight victims he needs to kill in order to live; police are baffled by the bodies of Spider’s victims, who are cocooned in a silk web, and are each missing a leg. Spider’s task is to collect eight legs in order to complete the construction of his own spider, however, things get complicated when he falls in love with his eighth victim.
The album had originally been earmarked for release in 2007, but problems with producer scheduling and a busy touring schedule caused it to be delayed a year. A number of songs and demos for the album were prepared and short listed during 2007, and further recording and writing work took place on the album in February 2008. In an interview with Billboard Alice stated that the album was 75% done as of April 18th 2008, and tentatively gave August as a release date.[3]
Cooper's backing band for the tour, features guitarists Keri Kelli and Jason Hook, bassist Chuck Garric and drummer Eric Singer.
