Talk:Alnwick Castle

Erm so what's in the third peri tower then? - it seems to peter out a bit! :) Nevilley
[edit] "First known of"?
What does this mean? "The castle was first known of in 1096 when Yves de Vescy was Baron of Alnwick." It would be good if this could be clarified - I assume that what is being got at is that its first recorded presence is then, or something - but it reads badly, becase it sounds as if 1096 was when people anywhere first heard of it, and I am sure this is not what was meant. Any offers please? --Nevilley 07:26, 9 Jul 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Ownership?
Is it still owned by the Duke of Northumberland? john k 15:27, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. Though legally it might be owned by one of the many trusts of which the family is beneficiary. --Tagishsimon (talk)
- How best to make this clear in the article? john k 19:12, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

- Like that? --Tagishsimon (talk)
- Great, except that we don't know that the Duke himself owns it, right? Might it be better to say that it is the residence of the Duke of Northumberland, or the seat of the Duke of Northumberland? john k
- If you wish. --Tagishsimon (talk)
