I have copy-edited the article and believe that it reads pretty well now so I am removing the copy-edit tag. I have also gone through and removed the unnecessary links in accordance with Wikipedia:Only make links that are relevant to the context. Personally I think this article belongs in a travel guide rather than an encyclopedia. JenLouise 06:14, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- I tend to think this article shows up the lack of information in other articles. I think informationon services, infrastructure, &c., are exactly what one would wish in a defition of an areas. Many of the geo pages we have are hopelessly wishy-washy and vague, amounting to little more than a declaration that the place exists. What do articles on Berwick or Lossiemouth tell us about the availability of schools, hospitals, transport, or the demographics of the towns? Nothing. --Tagishsimon (talk)
[edit] Alnwick District's racial make-up
I removed the following paragraph on Alnwick District's racial make-up. I doubt anyone cares, given Alnwick District's obviously eye-blinding whiteness, but the use of the word "community" gives me pause. I doubt "community" was a unit of measurement for the census. Possible confusion between the town and the district, and just a general feeling of unreliability. Need a citation.
It is the second least racially diverse community in the country, in the terms measured in the 2001 census with 99.6% of the population recording their ethnicity as White.

It should not be the second paragraph, but it is accurate and this encyclopaedia enjoys facts. "given Alnwick District's obviously eye-blinding whiteness" only works if you visit the place. It not, then let the encyclopaedia inform you. Paragraph re-added and referenced. Change the word if it makes you unhappy. --Tagishsimon (talk) 14:46, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Sorry for the massive delay in response.
I, too, would rather this encyclopaedia was based on fact, even if it is about some obscure district that will shortly be abolished.
If you feel that the paragraph is accurate, could you cite somewhere that actually makes the claim? The present one doesn't. Stopthief (talk) 22:18, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
