"Almost Unreal", written by Per Gessle and performed by Swedish pop duo Roxette, was included on the soundtrack of the 1993 film Super Mario Bros, and was released as a single in May of that year.

"Almost Unreal" entered its peak of #7 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming the band's first Top 10 hit there for a while. In the United States, the song failed to reach the Top 40. Surprising for an act which usually achieved a Top 10 position with previous single releases.

"Almost Unreal" was originally written for the Bette Midler film "Hocus Pocus", which explains its lyrics, but was never used. It instead ended up attached to the Mario movie, which angered Per Gessle [1].
