Allied Pickfords Australia is the largest moving company in Australia and is part of the world's largest removal company network.[1]
Allied Pickfords’ origins date back many years including to the original Pickfords business in the United Kingdom, which dates back to 1666. Allied Pickfords’ Australian business, as it is today, has been in operation for 21 years.
Allied Pickfords’ Australian operations commenced in 1982, when British-based company Pickfords purchased Downard Transport Industries in Australia to form Downard Pickfords. In 1991, the name of the company was changed to Allied Pickfords.[2]
The establishment of the global Allied network which began in 1981 occurred through a variety of means including the acquisition of existing businesses, start-ups, creation of joint ventures, the appointment of franchise and partner agencies, and the creation of preferred agents.
