"All My Friends" is the second single from LCD Soundsystem's second album, Sound of Silver. It was released on May 28, 2007 in the United Kingdom, and reached #41 in the UK singles chart.

B-sides for the single include covers of the song by Franz Ferdinand (produced by Erol Alkan) and former Velvet Underground member John Cale.

In late 2007 the song was picked by the journalists of influential online music site Pitchfork Media as the #1 track of 2007[1] and it was selected by Guardian Unlimited readers as the best single of 2007.[2]Time magazine named "All My Friends" one of The 10 Best Songs of 2007, ranking it at #4. Writer Josh Tyrangiel praised the “magic” in the song, saying that the song’s “straightforward repetition of the same guitar, keyboard and bass lines, combined with lyrics about life without regret, and life with all kinds of regrets pays off with a punch about what we lose as we get older."[3][4]

The song was used in the closing montage of ITV's coverage of the 2007 Rugby World Cup.[citation needed]

[edit] "No Love Lost"

The 7" (Part One) single was initially announced as including a cover of Joy Division's "No Love Lost", but this was replaced with an edit of "All My Friends" for an unknown reason. At the end of the enhanced section on the CD single, however, there is an advertisement for the other formats of the single and it states one of the B-sides as "No Love Lost." The enhanced section was finalized before the track was switched out.

"No Love Lost" is, however, available as track 3 on the download single. It also later appeared on a split 7-inch record released while the band was on tour with Arcade Fire.

[edit] Music video

The minimalist music video for "All My Friends" features a single shot of James Murphy wearing face paint and singing into the camera. As the video progresses, LCD Soundsystem live keyboardist Nancy Whang and drummer Pat Mahoney are seen playing behind James Murphy and reflected in mirrors. As the video ends the camera pulls out and several fireworks go off. The video was directed by Tom Kuntz.
