All Friday

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

All Friday is a Norwegian punk rock band formed in late 2003. Its members include Jay-Rock (born Johan Larsson), guitar and lead vocals, Knockster (born Knut Oscar Nymo), bass guitar and backing vocals, El-Thoro (born Thor Ole Øby), guitar and backing vocals, and Golden (born Mads Almankås Golden), drums (Turntablist DJ Dan recently left the band for undisclosed reasons). The band's music, its members say, is influenced mainly by American punk rock groups such as Lit, Green Day and Zebrahead, and much like the latter band, All Friday is known for incorporating rap-like elements and sections in some of their songs. All Friday has occasionally been accused of knocking off commercially successful punk rock bands such as Good Charlotte and blink-182, but the band's members have seemingly unaffectedly replied their critics by stating that they are just creating music that they themselves enjoy listening to. "Resemblance to any former or contemporary bands, musically or otherwise, is not intentional and purely coincidental," they say.

[edit] Releases

All Friday's first release was a 1000 copy EP titled Squeeze Tits Not Triggers released in 2004. The modest number of copies of course limited the commercial success of the release, but Squeeze Tits Not Triggers nevertheless earned All Friday a considerable base of devoted fans. The video for the song Break Me Down reaped considerable rotation on the NRK2 music video program Svisj in 2004 and contributed to the increasing popularity of the band.

The band's newest single One Last Try was released April 24, 2006 on Skullstar/Tuba Records and is widely available in leading Norwegian record stores. The title song One Last Try was for some time playlisted on NRK P3, Norway's biggest youth oriented radio channel, and All Friday even performed their song live on the Norwegian national television music chart show "Topp 20" on April 21, 2006. Similar to Break Me Down, the video for One Last Try was frequently voted to air-play on Svisj after the single's release.
