The 17 a-side final was between Dublin and Cork. The final was first played in Clonturk with Dublin and Cork finishing on a draw with a scoreline of 0-6 to 1-1. During this period of Gaelic football, a goal was worth five points which is why the game was calculated as a draw. The replay was played at Thurles in Munster and the final finished Cork 1-2 to Dublin's 0-5 scoreline, but Dublin were awarded the title even though a goal amounted to five points.
