[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Princessmuna.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Princessmuna.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add , without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 03:09, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Queen Zein
Hi, Alia! I've noticed that you've moved Zein al Sharaf Talal to Queen Zein. I believe that Zein al Sharaf Talal was the correct title of the article because Zein is a past royal consort. There are many smilar examples to quote, but a few that happen to be on my mind are Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (known by the title she held for 50 years - Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother) and Catherine of Aragon (known as Queen Catherine). Surtsicna (talk) 16:17, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- I know what you mean. Queens consort retain their title after death, but since "they lack an ordinal to distinguish between them, many historical texts and encyclopedias refer to deceased consorts by their pre-marital or maiden name or title, not by their marital royal title". As I've already said, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon is still mentioned as Queen Elizabeth, but there have been fifteen queens named Elizabeth.
- Eg. maybe prince Hussein's wife will also be called Zein, so there could be two Jordanese queens named Zein. Queens consort can't use an ordinal (they couldn't be called Zein I and Zein II), so how would you distinguish between them? This is why maiden name is used.
- This is the only rule you've broken so far :) but don't worry. Maybe you're right, maybe Queen Zein should be at Queen Zein. Anyway, keep writting about Jordanese queens. I'll try to translate some of your articles for Bosnian Wikipedia. Good luck Surtsicna (talk) 16:50, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Template:Jordanian Royal Family
Hello, Alia, it's me again! :) I just wanted to tell you that members of the royal family are listed by their place in the order of precedence, not by their place in the line of succession. That's why I've put Queen Noor below Queen Rania. Her Majesty Queen Noor naturally has a precedence over all the princes and princesses, but the current King and Queen have a precedence over her. Eg. Miss Abir Muhaisen is not a princess and other members of the royal family have a precedence over her - that's why she is at the bottom of the template. Surtsicna (talk) 14:29, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- Lets move our discussion to Template talk:Jordanian Royal Family. Surtsicna (talk) 17:34, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi! I've reorganized the template. Do you like the way it looks now?
This is the way they're placed now:
- the King and Queen and their children are on the top;
- Queen Noor and her children, her daughter-in-law and grandchildren are below them;
- Queen Alia's son, adopted daughter, daughter-in-law and grandchildren are below Queen Noor and her descendants;
- Princess Dina and her daughter are in fourth section;
- Princess Muna and her son, daughters, daughter-in-law and grandchildren (except for the King, his spouse and their children) are below Princess Dina and her daughter;
- the last section consists of brothers and sisters of King Hussein, spouses of King Hussein's brother and King Talal's male line grandchildren.
I've noticed that Prince Muhammad bin Talal is married to Taghrid Majali. Isn't his wife also a princess? Should we put her name in the template? Surtsicna (talk) 12:49, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Just to remind you: you need to categorize your articles. For example, the article about Princess Tasneem should have following categories: Surtsicna (talk) 12:50, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Greek Royal Family
Take your grievances to the talk page like everyone else, okay? Charles 17:30, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- So terse and succinct is rude now? I will have you know that changes to that template are the subject of a Request for Comment so it is RUDE for YOU to revert, revert, revert. You've just burnt a bridge when you could have built one. Have a good day. Charles 17:35, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hello AliaBuhler. Seeing as there's been a change at Template:Greek Royal Family, does this mean we change the Romanian, Bulgarian Templates etc? You're correct, Constantine II is not the King of Greece ('King of the Hellenes); nobody has been the King of Greece since 1973. I don't mind changes in the Template, as long as the changes are made for all former royal family Templates. GoodDay (talk) 21:20, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Reza Pahlavi
I'm sorry about the Reza Pahlavi page. Is there any way we can try to present the significance of his following among Iranian-Americans, especially outside of Iran. I did not know that was pretender's meaning, but maybe we could work to add a section. He has a very, very large following, where as fact not opinion more than half of Iranians outside of Iran follow him. It is similar to Nancy Pelosi's approval rating. It is much lower than President Bush's, but because only the approval rating of congress is polled, there is no way to prove it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.102.193.102 (talk) 07:13, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Pahlavi articles
Hi Alia, I noticed that you've been changing the titles of the Pahlavi articles. The use of titular designations in these articles work differently than in other articles. The Pahlavis no longer hold their royal titles. All of the Pahlavis alive during the revolution were stripped of these designations by the Iranian government. This is why they have not been included in the article titles before. I've only corrected a couple of these, but don't feel like taking the time to go through and undo each one. --Ave Caesar (talk) 14:14, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- The fact that other articles may also be incorrect does not mean that articles that are currently correct should also be made to reflect inaccurate positions. This is the WP:WAX principle. Rather than adding these titles to Iranian articles you should then be removing them from other individuals who do not actually hold such titles. --Ave Caesar (talk) 14:23, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ha, that is true. A major problem with Wiki is the strong nationalist streak in many of the editors on here. Either way, I'm not going to go back and undo all of your moves simply because I don't feel like it. Someone might come through later on and do it though. --Ave Caesar (talk) 14:27, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
