People familiar with Houston Metro area schools know Alief Hastings HS which, before the advent of the super-high school, was one of the largest schools in UIL 5A. Hasting grew from being the original Alief (Dairy) secondary school to a high school with nominally 5000 students. Alief ISD, located in West Houston, encompasses 36.6 square miles and has an enrollment of 47,663 students. Check out http://www.alief.isd.tenet.edu/. Hastings HS is just south of Crump Stadium, which sits on Alief's dual high-school campus between Cook and Dairy Ashford & Alief Clodine & Highstar.

If you're from my Texas you'll also know that the 2005 National Champion - UT Longhorns included Texas defensive tackle Rodrique Wright, a product of Alief Hastings HS under coach Bobby Stuart.

The following is NPOV. I live in Texas and have for over 25 years.. and I had never heard of this school in my life.

The school's mascot is the Fighting Bear, and the school's basketball and football teams are well known throughout Texas, as is the speech and debate team.

I attend the school.

This discussion is not a debate on the neutrality of the article. the article is unbiased and is factually written. There is one minor ambiguous statement about the school being well known for the quality of courses and I will remove that line in a moment. The insertion of a reference to Bellaire High School is unecessary and does not help a reader find out about Hastings High School. The reference to Bellaire high school was most likely made by someone with some sort of relationship to Bellaire who had an intent to give their school a "shameless" plug. Since the lines which are causing controversy will be removed, I will also remove the NPOV tag. - Diemunkiesdie 14:52, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
