Aliza Gur (born 1942) was Miss Israel of 1960 and a semi-finalist in the Miss Universe pageant that same year. Her parents left Germany during Hitler's reign and settled in the British Mandate of Palestine, where she and her brother were born.
She eventually went to the United States and settled in California where she began her film and television career. Her parents went to the United States and settled in Cleveland, Ohio, for a time. They passed away in the 1970s. Aliza has been married twice, to Sy Shulman and to Sheldon Shrager.
Her television credits include guest appearances on Get Smart (1965), The Wild Wild West (1965), The Big Valley (1965), and several other shows. Cinema credits include From Russia with Love (1963), Agent for H.A.R.M. (1966), and Kill a Dragon (1967).
Her most famous role was as the smaller of the two fighting Gypsies in From Russia with Love (Martine Beswick was the taller woman). Aliza Gur continues to receives fan mail relating to this scene. Incidentally, the female lead in the film was Daniela Bianchi, who had been Gur's roommate at the 1960 Miss Universe pageant and placed second in the competition.
Gur currently resides in Hollywood.
