Alive Records, started in 1994 in Los Angeles by French expatriate Patrick Boissel, grew from his association with U.S. label Bomp! Records.

The Alive-Naturalsound catalogue includes the Akron duo The Black Keys (Alive released their debutThe Big Come Up), Two Gallants, SSM, Trainwreck Riders, Buffalo Killers, Black Diamond Heavies, Radio Moscow, the Soledad Brothers, Turpentine Brothers, The Howling Diablos, The Bloody Hollies, as well as reissues by Mick Farren of the The Deviants, Nikki Sudden and the Swell Maps. The most recent additions are Thomas Function, Hacienda, Brimstone Howl, Left Lane Cruiser, Ron Franklin (artist) and Detroit Soul R&B legend Nathaniel Mayer.
