Alison Marie Bales (born on April 4, 1985 in Indianapolis, Indiana) is an American WNBA player who plays for the Indiana Fever. After living in Indianapolis for 5 years her family moved to Beavercreek, Ohio and she played high school basketball for Beavercreek High School. After her senior year she committed to Duke University to play for the Duke Blue Devils women's basketball team. At 6' 7" she played center for Duke and later became the all-time shot block leader at Duke and 3rd all-time in NCAA history. On her birthday she was drafted #9 overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2007 WNBA Draft.
She joined Barack Obama in a game of 3-on-3 basketball along with local students Kokomo, Indiana at the Maple Crest Middle School on April 25, 2008. She played on Obama's team which won 15-5, giving Obama a chance to display his skills to the national media.
Fever teammate Tamika Catchings served as the referee.
