Alinta Wind Farm, Western Australia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alinta Wind Farm is a wind power station at Walkaway, just south of Geraldton, Western Australia.
The Alinta Wind Farm, Western Australia's largest renewable energy project, provides 90 megawatts of power into the grid that supplies Perth and the South West, and the wind farm has 54 of the world's largest wind turbines.[1]
Each year the Alinta Wind Farm displaces 400,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases that would normally be produced by fossil fuel based power generation methods. This is the equivalent of removing 80,000 cars off the roads each year.[2]
Electricity produced by the wind farm is purchased by JackGreen for their GreenPower customers.
