Alien Shooter is a third-person shooter PC action game created by the Russian "Sigma Team" and released in 2002. It has two expansions, called "Fight for Life" and "The Experiment". Both addons include 5 more levels, the second one also has one final boss and 3 difficulty settings that dictate the number of aliens (easy has the least, hard has the most).

Story: The year is 2025. A research facility somewhere has been overrun by aliens. A portal has opened deep down in the building, and strange creatures pour out of it, devouring anything and anyone in their path. You are a mercenary, called in by the army. The situation must be contained, no alien is to escape out of the facility. You have been granted access to the latest weapons and armor. Just do your job right.

Tthe player takes control of either a Male or Female character. The Male Character is stronger (can carry more Ammunition) and has more hit points while the female character has a faster movement rate and can fire more accurately. One starts with only the most basic of 9 weapons, a hand gun and can either find or purchase more powerful weapons throughout the game. Finding or buying biomechanical implants will increase your character's speed, strength, health, or accuracy.

Story: 2026 AD. It's one year after the invasion. The alien plague is spreading all over mankind. Some scientists have been involved in researching a type of virus that will only kill aliens, harmless to humans. That was before all contact with the facility was lost. It seems it has been overrun by the wave of onslaught brought by the creatures. Now you are called in again to do the dirty work. Free survivors, find the virus, save the data logs. You know the drill.

In this addon there are 5 new missions.

Story: Year 2030. Day after day, mankind realizes the end has come. Nothing can stop the merciless creatures spreading all over the world. People now live in fortified settlements, inventing new ways to survive the oncoming massacre. A research laboratory is reported to be overrun. Scientists there were working on creation of a new species of monster, combining strains of DNA. This new type of creature was supposed to be loyal to humans, but ferocious against the aliens. Something has gone wrong, and you must discover what.

This addon is more complex than the first one. It has 5 new missions, new music tracks, one new type of monster, one monster boss and a campaign difficulty setting.

The player can move the character by point and right click or with the arrow keys. Players aim the weapons with the mouse and fire with the left click. Although playing with only the mouse is possible, it is extremely difficult to retreat and fire without using the keyboard. Swapping weapons in inventory can be accomplished with the mouse scroll wheel or with the number keys.

[edit] Levels and monsters

Alien Shooter with addons has a total of 20 Levels spread across 3 campaigns. When a player completes a level, they may purchase implants, ammunition, weapons, or armor. There is also a Survive mode that keeps sending more and more monsters until the player is eventually overrun.

There are 7 types of aliens that come in 4 strength grades: Green (weakest and slowest), Yellow, Red, and Blue (strongest and fastest). In the expansion, there is an additional creature type and an end boss.

Based on simple isometric pixel-arts, by today’s standards, the game is not graphics intensive. It has been tested and runs well on a 667 MHz PIII system with a 32 meg graphics card.
