Alida Rockefeller Messinger

Alida Rockefeller Messinger (born 1948) is the fourth child of John D. Rockefeller 3rd and his wife Blanchette Hooker Rockefeller, and a fourth generation member of the Rockefeller family. She is a sister of Democratic West Virginia Senator John D. Rockefeller IV.

Messinger is well-known as a philanthropist and is a major donor to conservation and environmental organizations. Her Alida R. Messinger Charitable Trust also funds conservation and environmental groups, as does the Rockefeller Family Fund, founded in 1967, of which she is a trustee.

Messinger also contributes financially to the Center for Public Integrity.

She was previously married to former U.S Senator Mark Dayton (D-MN); they have since divorced. They had two children together, both sons. In addition, she has a daughter with her current husband William Messinger.
