Full Name: Ali Mohsen Saad Al-Moraisi Born: in Aden, Yemen. Clubs: Zamalek SC (1959-1964)
Ali Mohsen Al-Moraisi is Yemen’s greatest football player, and the first to ply his trade in the Egyptian league with Arab giants Zamalek in the 1960s.
He once scored in a 7-1 defeat by Real Madrid in 1961, while playing for a select side with several players from Zamalek, Ahly and Al-Masry.
After retiring from playing, he coached Somalia in 1973, and managed Al-Satra in Southern Yemen, before moving to Johar Al-Rab. The national stadium in Sanaa is named after the player.
He was appointed councilor for Minister of Youth and Sports until his death in 1994. The Ali Mohsen Al-Moraisi Tournament has been played annually in his honour since 1992, in cooperation with Aden Football Association.
