[edit] The Willows
The Willows - Perhaps his most celebrated story, was influenced heavily by Blackwood's own trips down the Danube River. It tells the story of two campers who pick the wrong place to sleep for the night, a place where another dimension impinges on our own. H.P. Lovecraft considered this the finest supernatural tale in English literature. (Citation needed. Altough in "Supernatural Horror in Literature" Lovecraft praises 'The Willows', he doesn't say the book is that good, or the best of any kind. However, in S.T. Joshi's explanatory notes for 'The Call of the Cthulhu' in "The Call of the Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories" Lovecraft is said to have ranked 'The Willows' as the finest tale in weird literature.") —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.103.217.218 (talk) March 10, 2007
- I gave a source for the claim; the information I provided is from the introduction of "H.P. Lovecraft's Weird Tales," edited by Douglas Anderson, but when I tried to create a footnote saying that, I botched it up. I'll try again later (edit: Okay, did it). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Deadlyhair (talk • contribs) 03:10, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
