Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Contents

[edit] Agar plate

  • Two items:
First, I've removed your LB agar recipe from the Agar plate article - not because the info is wrong, but simply because specific instructions like this are more appropriate on Wikipedia's sister project, Wikibooks. I've added an explicit link to the Agar plate article - you may want to check it out and see if the LB instructions are needed there.
Second, when editing, you should only check the "This is a minor edit" box when the edit is really minor (say, a typo correction or removal of an extra blank line). Why? Many editors choose to ignore minor edits (a setting the My Preferences menu in the upper right of your screen) and thus would miss these not-really-minor changes. For more details, see Help:Minor edit.
Third (out of "two"...), welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you'll continue to edit - the microbiology links here can use lots of help - and remember, continue to be bold.

_______

Hi! I'm really sorry this reply is so late (and you probably won't even be checking this any more!) I only just realised that people talk and reply to each other on talk pages, so apologies for my being rather slow :) I did as you suggested and moved the LB recipe to Wikibooks. Thank you for all your help, and I aim to edit Wikipedia much more now that I've learnt some basics ^_^

Thank you again

[edit] autoblock

Wikipedia software uses so-called "autoblocks", which cause innocent users to be blocked for the actions of other users. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to prevent this from happening. The autoblock should go away after a while. -- Curps 05:05, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

_______

As with MarcoTolo, I'm very sorry that this reply is so late. Thank you for clearing up my query, it did confuse me somewhat :) I've heard somewhere it's to do with a signature from the computer changing between page viewings - I still get strange vandalism warnings but they stop the moment I sign in (which is reassuring ^_^)

Thanks again for all your help, hopefully I'll thank you sooner if we meet on Wikipedia again! Alfirin 23:23, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:St Thomas' school logo Grays.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:St Thomas' school logo Grays.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:27, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

I know you're a robot, but in case your owner or anyone else who's looking into that picture comes here then I think I should reply.

As that was one of the first images I uploaded I sort of mucked up the size (I didn't know that the infobox made resizing within it difficult) so the first image came out a bit big. I tried changing it but ended up uploading another instead. The other, sensibly sized. picture is still happily sitting in the article - but the odd sized one is orphaned and I wasn't sure how to delete without creating a blank page. I know what to do next time though :) I should have nominated the superfluous image for deletion - I just hadn't found out about the tags until recently :)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:St Thomas' Logo small.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:St Thomas' Logo small.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:48, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Input request

Hi Alfirin, there is some discussion currently going on here, and I noticed you have {{User anime}} on your userpage. If you are not too busy, I would appreciate it if you could drop some of your ideas on how to reform the portal on the aforementioned talk page. Thanks! « ANIMUM » 23:05, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
