[edit] Guatemala Portal

Hi. I was browsing and came across Portal:Guatemala, which you created some time ago. Are you still interested in building and maintaining it? If not, I could ask on the community portal for someone to help it out, and can make it look nice without much effort by myself, although updates will be sparse as I don't have time to maintain lots of portals. (Portal:Latin America keeps me busy.) If you would like to build it (even if you don't want to continually maintain it) and would like help, feel free to ask. --Estrellador* 13:12, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Sure. I can direct you to the help sections dealing with portals; however, they are not great, IMHO. Do you have any specific questions? If you want an easy way of creating good-looking stuff without learning the code, just copy off the featured portals (see for example what I have just done on the intro to the portal, which was stolen off Portal:Australia.) I have fixed up the formatting, which should hopefully help you input things into the boxes.

Here are some helpful links; however, you may have found them already:

(P.S. From experience, I have found that if there is a formatting problem, 99/100 times it is because there are not enough tags (either that or not enough

tags) :-).

[edit] Grigori Perelman

I see no reason to doubt his Jewish heritage, but someone else keeps adding that. I already said myself on the talk page that I think it is probably an unneccessary distraction. ---CH 22:39, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

THanks for your comments. I agree with you I don't have a problem putting his heritage in the article but there's no references whatsoever. Thanks. --alfiboy 17:54, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
(Note: moved from user talk page archive (!!!!) by myself ---CH 03:29, 25 August 2006 (UTC))

I don't know why you added this comment to one of my user talk archive pages, and I only noticed it by accident. I assume you somehow overlooked the header I added to all of these pointing out that these are archive pages and asking users not to edit them (I have already had to request page protection of one because of vandalism)...

In any case I declared quite clearly (as I thought) on Talk:Grigori Perelman that I am too disgusted with fanatics who wish to hijack that article to further their personal political agendas to continue my efforts to improve it. ---CH 03:29, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Capt.dfec6e5578e947dfaf98bdbd83d15624.species survivor flbk101.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Capt.dfec6e5578e947dfaf98bdbd83d15624.species survivor flbk101.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 10:37, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article in need of cleanup - please assist if you can

== Image:Guatemala Sinkhole.jpg listed for deletion ==
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Guatemala Sinkhole.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. —Pilotguy push to talk 02:43, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Aaron_Kyle_Huff.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Aaron_Kyle_Huff.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 14:37, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Vista Easter Egg.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Vista Easter Egg.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:14, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Vista Easter Egg.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Vista Easter Egg.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:55, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Carnation Massacre 2007

A tag has been placed on Carnation Massacre 2007, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. iced kola(Mmm...) 00:16, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
