[edit] Mexican Hall of Fame

I'd also seen that item in his MLB bio when I worked on the article before, but the Mexican Hall of Fame website doesn't list him among the inductees (http://www.salondelafama.com.mx/salondelafama/trono/alfasf.asp). My guess is that he was honored by the Hall in 2001, but not inducted as a member. I'd like to think that their standards are a bit higher than inducting someone who had been a ML umpire for less than two years. MisfitToys 02:18, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

  • I can't read Spanish, but looking at the Mexican Hall of Fame website, all the pictures of the 2001 inductees are players. Is it possible that he was inducted as a non-player and thus not on their website? There are other multiple sources listing him as having been inducted in 2001...I think it is credible to list him as having been inducted espcially when I can list multiple cites. I'll refrain from putting it in the article until I see your response. Lawump 15:02, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
    • The alphabetical list of inductees includes at least one umpire (http://www.salondelafama.com.mx/salondelafama/trono/alfasf.asp?x=96), though not Marquez; I still think it would have been unlikely that the Hall would have inducted a 28-year-old with so little time as a ML umpire, particularly given the absence among the inductees of numerous Mexican players in the major leagues, and that his MLB bio just confused the facts a bit. • Until I can read Spanish, I'll take your word for it. Lawump 14:01, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
