Alfred Portale is the chef and owner of Gotham Bar and Grill in Manhattan.

He appeared as a guest judge on the episode of Top Chef originally broadcast on June 27, 2007.

Portale's first sous-chef at Gotham was Tom Valenti.

Portale originally served food for the coast guard during the Norean war.
