Alfred 'Al' Lawson Jr. is a Democratic member of the Florida Senate, representing the 6th District since 2001. Previously he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1983 through 2000.

Lawson received his Bachelors degree from Florida A & M University, and his Masters in Public Administration from Florida State University.
