We're sorry if we've offended you on the AfD, but you have to understand that wikipedia has fairly strict guidelines about biographies, and we're not sure your article met them. I'm sorry that this was your first experience with wikipedia, and I hope you'll stick around and contribute to our encyclopedia in the future. Thanks! Ruaraidh-dobson 15:11, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. I obviously need to research the rules and regulations here a bit more before posting anything. The sole purpose of the entry was to provide expanded information on the history of WRAS Atlanta (its shows and DJs), which I hope will be possible some time in the future when "the scholars" deem it significant. Thank you very much.
- No problem. I'm sure nobody was trying to be offensive, but don't worry about it. A quick tip - when you put a comment on a talk page, put four tildes(~~~~) after it. This puts your name and the date/time of your edit on the page so everyone can see it quickly. Thanks, and enjoy being a wikipedian! Ruaraidh-dobson 15:37, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks! I appreciate you being constructive instead of attacking me. I don't think those other people realize that I am new. I appreciate your help! Alexhking 15:40, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- Changed my vote to have the page converted a a user-page for you ^^ If you look at the new pages listings, you will see an absolutely staggering ammount of pages that are made for vain reasons, to promote someone or some company rather than to add factual knowledge. This is sadly why people can seem a little harsh in such things. LinaMishima 16:04, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
The best way to expand a stub for an organisation you are part of would be to add to that page information on the non-notable people involved. This not only provides more information, but helps to work towards eleviating stub status. Wikipedia relies on articles being on subjects that have been mentioned in trusted sources, such as the BBC, CNN, major magizines, etc. Adding references to these on an article is another great way to contribute (and gives proof for whatever edits you make to the text). Often even just a quick google search will turn up such material! LinaMishima 16:04, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Lina: Thanks so much for the kind words of wisdom! I will refrain from adding to the "vanity heap"in the future. I just want the community to know that my intentions were not as selfish as they seem. Alexhking 20:37, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Again, I'm really sorry if people have been a bit harsh on the AfD, but like LinaMishima said, there are hundreds of these every day, and people can get a bit sick of them. Please don't leave wikipedia - I understand that it can be a little trying at times, but if you stay around you'll probably find it a great place to be! Ruaraidh-dobson 08:24, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
