Arcangel page wasn't actually about artist

Hello, Lex. I deleted a page titled Arcangel (artist) on October 2nd. Someone had created the page, with the entire article being simply: "fuck". I didn't delete any actual article on the artist. нмŵוτнτ 00:00, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Desperate Housewives

Did you fail this article or put it on hold? Because the GAN page says that it's been on hold for over two weeks now, but your review in on the talk page seems to have failed it? If it's failed, it should be removed from the GAN page and the appropriate template placed on the article's talk page. Cheers, CP 16:14, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

You know, it just struck me, but before an article is listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Unreferenced GA task force/Nominations, it should be failed per the guidelines at WP:GAN. Cheers, CP 06:52, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter

Collaboration of the Week

The Pro Wrestling Collaboration of the Week for November 11 - November 17 is World Wrestling Entertainment. Please help to improve it to match the quality of an ideal Wikipedia professional wrestling related article. The next article for collaboration will be chosen on Sunday, November 18.
Cast your vote to select the collaboration for next week!Nominate an article that could be greatly improved!

From the Editor

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter! I hope this will be a good source of news to those people interested in what's happening around our pro wrestlimg community. I plan to release it every Sunday.

This newsletter will just be a way to get the community announcements to people who don't have the time to check the mesageboards, as well that to those just curious about the news. The newsleter will consist of a project news section (to do with what's happening on Wikipedia), and a current events section (relating to news in the "real world"). The newslette will also contain the Collaboration of the Week announcement.

That's all. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please post them at this talk page.

Protection

Hi, I saw you note at the help desk. I am an admin so can protect pages if needed. Can I help you ? Pedro :  Chat  11:01, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Not sure if you saw my talk page but please don't use a template for your signature per Wikipedia:Signatures#Transclusion of templates - it's expressley forbidden. Just use your "my preferences" tab and insert the raw code. Can you advise your adoptee accordingly too. Cheers! Pedro :  Chat  08:37, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Please spell correctly

I noticed your comment to the person asking about how to cite Wikipedia. While this may be a young person, it might have been wiser to be more circumspect and (without giving the reason for suspicion), say:

If you are under 13, you might want to ask a parent or older person to help you - our guides and policy manuals are written with a teenage or older audience in mind.

There are some very bright kids out there under the age of thirteen who can handle the wikipedia guidelines better than some of us old folk. And spelling isn't always a guide to age: people with dyslexia and other learning diabilities often have spelling well below their general level to process and analyze - sometimes well into adulthood. And finally SCHOOL (especially with this level of spelling) can mean an adult working on a GED as well as a youngster. Many adults, especially those with learning disabilities, go back to school and struggle with this. The last thing they need to be told is that they sound like an 8 year old.

Given that this editor was trying to construct a bibliography, I'm guessing it was *most likely* a non-native speaker, a learning disabled teen or GED student - 3-5th graders don't normally get asked to put together a bibliography (or even know the word). Those skills are normally taught depending on the school somewhere between in 7th-12th grade. Best, Egfrank 10:55, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Your message

Lex, I appreciate your comment. I am indeed I suppose on some kind of break, I had internet access at home and then move home and have yet to get full time access again, and I have been unable to get to my local library for anything more than an hour a day. I didn't want to say I was on a break because my intention was to return full time as soon as possible, however this has not happened so far. I am still checking but there's not much I can do in 15 minutes other than check my watchlist. For the next few months I should have access at least twice a week so I should be more frequently editing. Darrenhusted 12:58, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Signatures part 2

The point is that sigs that are transcluded muck up a lot of bots and also cause server drain. And including the tildes in the template does not make it a signature in the normal way. Sig templates are specifically banned, I'm afraid. If the markup will not fit in the box it's also a bad sign - why not try and truncate the code by dropping elements from your sig? Either way the point is that I (and no other admin) will protect a signature transclusion as they are against policy. Hope that helps. Pedro :  Chat  20:46, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Can you help with proof-reading the newsletter before it goes out (limited time only)? By the way... regarding adding a hide/show bar for the newsletter: I put that off this week's newsletter (too little time to finalize). I placed your draft on my sandbox. Please don't get mad. Davnel03 20:25, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
I hope I never made you mad. If you remember, you written out a bit on every match. As this wasn't the format in other PPV articles (in others we just did the main matches, unless the PPV is really old SummerSlam (1993) for example), I took it to WP:PW. The consensus was to change it to be consistent with other PPV articles, see here. I hope you aren't mad. I wasn't intending to make you mad, but it was the consensus. I hope you understand, Davnel03 20:30, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
I'm working on In Your House 1: Premiere as I have nominated it for FA status. I might work on it in the future though. Davnel03 20:36, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Lex, I've been following the conversation between you and Davne regarding the Cyber Sunday 2006 article, and just wanted to share a few words:

I know it is extremely easy to get attached to particular articles, especially ones that you feel you have put a lot of time and effort into. And, when someone (or several people depending on the article) come along and do a lot of heavy editing to the article, and much of what you have contributed has been altered, replaced, or removed (even when these edits are constructive and in the best interest of the article), it can be very frustrating nonetheless; you might feel as though your time and energy was wasted or that your work wasn't appreciated. Please just know that in most scenarios, this is not this case and you are a valued contributor to Wikipedia. More than likely, when you did your work on the article, you were unaware of a guideline, policy, consensus, or style format (or a combination of these or other similar things) that is/are generally accepted by a larger community of editors, and, unfortunately, your edits didn't quite fit and needed to be changed for the benefit of the encyclopedia.

Unfortunately, knowing and accepting that this is how Wikipedia works and evolves still isn't always enough to stop you from banging your head on your desk and cursing the Internet through your monitor in frustration. But in the end, you love Wikipedia, you love working on it, and you get over it and move on. Don't feel like you can't still work on the article that got your all flustered though. You can. Heck, you should, because it probably still needs your help; Wikipedia is ever-evolving, and each article is a work-in-progress and always will be. And, when you go back to that article or any article from now on, you are armed with a bit more knowledge than you had before; you won't make the same mistakes again, and you will even be inherently more vigilant and able to spot those mistakes when other people make them so you can, in turn, end up helping them out. Just remember that Wikipedia is a learning process for everyone! --Naha|(talk) 21:20, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Help Desk and medical advice

Hello, Lex94. Just to let you know, we cannot, under any circumstance, give any sort of medical advice to those who ask for it at the help desk. I know you thought the most recent person was asking for information about a particular drug, but as soon as the question begins to veer toward "Can I use it for..." we cannot answer the question. The only thing we can do is tell them to ask a doctor and leave the volunteers out of the situation. The same thing goes for legal questions, or anything else that would normally be regulated through licensing and/or government certifications. Providing links to articles doesn't really help much in these cases, as any incorrect information in the article could lead to some nasty consequences, as people generally do not read or heed the disclaimers that more-or-less state exactly what I just told you. I really don't mean to harass you about this, but there is a very good reason for why we can't do this, and because of that it is important that it is not done. Thanks for your time, and happy editing as always. Hersfold (t/a/c) 03:21, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Your arbcom candiatancy

I removed it, as you need 1,000 edits before November 1, and that doesn't seem to be the case after a quick edit check. Thanks This is a Secret account 00:01, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

But over 500 of these edits came this month, you needed to reach the 1,000 milestone before November 1. Thanks This is a Secret account 00:14, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

It means 1,000 edits as of November 1st, which means you need to have them by that date, also fix remove that comment in the end that says happy editing, breaks your talk page when someone needs to post. Thanks This is a Secret account 00:28, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Please do not continue to disrupt the ArbCom elections. You do not meet the current requirements for candidacy which CLEARLY state that you must have had 1,000 edits BEFORE November 1st. SWATJester Son of the Defender 00:35, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

  • Can I just make a comment here - even if edits after 1 November counted (which they don't) you would not stand a chance in practice as most of the candidates have vastly longer time here and massive edit counts, usually in the tens of thousands. With fewer than 500 main space edits even now you would be laughed out, and that's not going to do your self-esteem much good. Sorry. Guy (Help!) 00:39, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Personal attacks

Please do not attack other editors. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Accusing other editors of racism is completely unacceptable. WjBscribe 01:03, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Altering other people's comments

This edit didn't strike me as being terribly polite. Firstly, striking out part of my comment without permission is not on - see WP:TALK#Others.27_comments. Please don't do this to me, or to anyone else, again. Secondly, my ignorance was because the change to the default signature was only made very recently: it was only announced in the WP:SIGNPOST three days after my comment (Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/2007-11-19/Technology_report) and I hadn't noticed it happening when I posted (as lots of people have customised signatures with talk page links anyway). Please be more careful with your phrasing in future. Regards, BencherliteTalk 10:57, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

New Year's Revolution article in your sandbox

If thats how the article is turning out to look, your doing great but you need to change your referencing style. you need to use this format..

You must specify title = and url = when using {{cite web}}..

good job though, however find more references TrUcO9311 (talk) 22:05, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes you are, but in PPV articles you must use the

(citeweb) template

For example like this..

P.S. click Edit for this comment to see the layout. Ask Questions if you are confused, also look at my article No Way Out (2007)

Also, do not list all the feuds heading into the event as you did on the NYR article, there should only be noted 2-4 main feuds. Also the Cyber Sunday 2006 article needs some updates as it looks like no one has edited it in a while. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Truco9311 (talkcontribs) 02:44, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Whoa dude, calm down, Im sorry i was trying to help you out.

  • I dont know when exactly you came to Wikipedia, but I have been here since late 2005/early 2006 to Wikipedia (with different user name).
  • I am not looking down at you as if you were a rookie, to me you are more experienced than I am and I respect you
  • I see what you mean as it could be disputed, but I feel the same way, there is no dispute here
  • Well true Davnel03 told me to list only 2-4 feuds, as I see we have different perspectives so I respect that and I feel you should do what you think is right. =)
  • I am sorry if It looked as if I was looking down at you, hope we can be Wikifriends.

I created the article and was the only one editing it, which I am now editing on my sandbox. Lex T/C Guest Book 05:42, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

That's fine. However, readers should be able to read what is currently there, and possibly make improvements, until you have finished the version in your sandbox. Redirecting to your sandbox would confuse readers and prevent anyone else making improvements. If you aren't comfortable with there being two versions of the article, work on the article directly. Wrestling FT

For future reference, the proper way to add pages to an FT is a supplementary nomination. And while current championships is not included in the title, it's definition is specifically for active titles. If it was for every title, we'd have to work on the dozens of other titles the WWE has had, even the minor ones. -- Scorpion0422 23:54, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Look buddy, I recently got 10 NHL trophy articles promoted within 40 days all for the sake of an FT, so don't criticize my work ethic. Current championships is what it was nominated under, and that's how it will stay unless you go for a supplementary nomination. As well, the FT criteria specifically says that every page must be a GA/FA/FL unless it's too short for that to be achieveable, and the list of Hardcore champions is not an FL. -- Scorpion0422 00:03, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Again, the definition is active championships and until recently, "current" was actually included in the title, but it was moved for some reason. And if you take a look at the talk page for the FT, you will notice that the definition is "lists of wrestlers who have held any of the currently active championships in World Wrestling Entertainment". So, if you wish to include those pages, you will likely need to go for a new FT. -- Scorpion0422 00:08, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

There was also a tag stating that the article was being copied to Wiktionary, but I'm not sure if that happened. east.718 at 03:52, November 30, 2007

Are you planning on helping me in the article List of WWE Hardcore Champions, because Ive been busy with No Way Out (2004) [by the way go check it out, its coming along great], also with List of professional wrestling pay-per-view events.--TrUcO9311 (talk) 20:32, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, thats why I look at some of the champions biographies and note those as refs. Do you still really want to do it? because its gonna take a while.

I think if you help me out in this one List of professional wrestling pay-per-view events we can easily make it a FL. All i need is to add other promotions ppvs, and refs for the others to prove that they existed.

P.S. can you check No Way Out (2004) 4 me thanx!

See thats what I thought, but you should have seen how this article looked like when another user created it. See on WPT:PW ppl agreed for it to be created. And look at the chat i had with tj spyke he liked it. So idk.--TrUcO9311 (talk) 21:17, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
I deleted it. No point of it. Oh well--TrUcO9311 (talk) 21:28, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Pushing Daisies User Box

I noticed you created a Pushing Daisies user box, but the image was deleted. Do you think you could remake it please! I bet it looked awesome!--Yankeesrj12 03:20, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Adoption

Hey, I noticed you're accepting adoptees. I was wondering whether you could please adopt me. I've been in WP for a year now but I still feel I could use some guidance. Thanks, --Slartibartfast1992 23:51, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Help request for IWGP World Tag Team Championship

Thanks for your input on fixing up this article. I managed to get the table sortable. I used your advice, and the poster who had opposed the nomination has now changed his vote to Support. GaryColemanFan (talk) 20:16, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
