[edit] Welcome!

Hi, Alex-Ship, welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your your contributions so far - I hope you decide to stick around. If you need help, you can:

  • Visit the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any questions you might have about editing.
  • Visit the list of help pages
  • Just edit this page and add {{helpme}} and then put your question underneath that. This will bring someone along to help you fairly soon.

There are lots of rules, policies, and other such things here. You don't need to worry about them too much (I've been here over two years and I still haven't read it all) - as long as you try to improve articles with your edits, and are polite to other people, you'll be fine. Remember, our motto is 'The Free Encyclopedia that anyone can edit' - so be bold and edit it! These pages will help you understand how to edit pages:

  • Wikipedia:How to edit a page - basic information on the different types of 'markup' you need to use to make a Wikipedia page do certain things, such as bold text (enclose it in three quotation marks ie '''bold text''').
  • Wikipedia:Five pillars - if you really want to know the rules then this is the best place to start

One more thing, when you're leaving a message on a 'talk' page (such as this one, which is your talkpage), you should sign your name (type ~~~~ at the end of your message) to let people know who the message was from. Once again, welcome, and I hope you'll enjoy Wikipedia. Cynical 19:22, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
