Alex Noury (March 6, 1979- present) was born in Winchester, Massachusetts. He moved to Canton, CT when he was two years old and resided there through his graduation at Canton Jr./Sr. High School (Collinsville, CT). Upon graduation, he attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY where he met his soon-to-be wife, Carolee. He graduated with a BA in Anthropology with a focus on the archaeology and the origins of animal transportation. During his years at Hartwick College, he spent his first two running Cross Country and Indoor and Outdoor Track (3km, 5km, and 10km). Following an injury, he filled up his time with extracurricular activities, such as the Anthropology Club, 50-50 Peer Counseling (through which he met his wife), Student-Alumni Association, and the Sexual Assault and Harassment Advisory Committee.
After graduating from Hartwick College in 2001, Carolee and Alex moved to Gainesville, FL where Alex attended the University of Florida Anthropology Department, under the toutelage of Drs. John Moore and Anthony Oliver-Smith. His studies focused on economic development, micro-enterprise development, political economy, and social resistance movements in Latin America. He performed his field work in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles in the summer of 2002. Several months following this he and Carolee were married on Cedar Key, FL in an intimate ceremony. In 2003, Alex completed his MA in Anthropology and headed to Washington, DC where Carolee would later attend graduate school at The George Washington University.
