Talk:Alexis Argüello
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
See my comment on the Aaron Pryor talk page. The discussion about the black bottle is legitimate, boxing fans still discuss it to this day and it is very controversial. One mistake, though is that then-Ring Magazine editor Randy Gordon actually noticed Pryor trainer Panama Lewis hand Pryor the bottle during the fight. He asked Lewis about it later that night, and Lewis claimed it contained sherry and raw eggs. No one believed him, though... User:Jsc1973
I do not think that mentioning the black bottle violates NPOV. Any discussion of Arguello-Pryor I mentions it. To remove it would be to leave out important information about the giht.Unklelemmy 00:04, 13 September 2005 (UTC)
Can someone find a source for the connection between the gunman at the fight and the Sandinistas? While it mays seem 'reasonable' given the enmity between them, it is pretty controversial without a source. My attempt to find one on the web turned up nothing except versions of this same wikipedia article. All other aspects of the Sandinista vs. Arguello struggle were easy to find independent sourcing for (property seizure, press blackout, Arguello's volunteering for the contras, etc.), but not this claim of connection to the gunman. Note that the article on 'battle of the champions' makes no mention of the Sandinista connection. If, after a month or so, no one can support this, I'll remove it. --Pallen 22:42, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Assessment
On second thoughts, this really needs some improvement to reach B-class (or higher). Most importantly, it needs to be properly formatted, but it also needs an infobox (and images, if available) and the addition of citations. Carom 06:37, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
I added an info box. I'm working on getting a pic uploaded. I was really shocked that this page was so meager. Tabber87 21:17, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
