[edit] The Alec?

I've lived in Birmingham for 40 years and been to the Alex many times, and have never once heard it called "The Alec".

Here is the Birmingham Post - "Guys and Dolls plays at The Alex from Dec 12 to Jan 6, contact 0870 607 7544 for ticket details."[1]

And the BBC - "The Alex is opposite the Mailbox, near Holloway Circus. The NCP Albany Car Park is 50 yards from the theatre."[2]

And the local bus company TravelWM - "The 'alex' is a well established theatre and playhouse in birmingham city centre. It has played host to numerous shows including exhibitions by the shaolin monks, west side story and stand-up shows by big name comedians."[3]

In contrast, a Google search for "alexandra theatre alec" turned up mentions of Alec Guinness, Alec Duffy, Alec Scott and Alec Kelly, but no mentions of the theatre by that name. JimmyGuano 22:04, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
