[edit] Sentence Confusion

"Although he is a prominent figure for both DC and Marvel, he is better known as a Marvel artist, as much of his best work (such as Kingdom Come) were created for DC."

If much of his best work were made for DC, why would he be considered a Marvel artist? Wouldn't that make him a DC artist?

  • Someone came along and corrected that, but now I've also added a clarifying sentence pointing out that post-1994, most of his Marvel Comics work has been as co-plotter and cover artist, as opposed to his DC work. (If you consider those DC tabloid-sized anniversary graphic novels, the paragraph makes sense.) To me he'll always be "the Marvels guy" but that's where I first discovered him. Fans today probably do know him as a DC painter. STFmaryville 00:59, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] No Wally West?

His opposition to Kyle Rayner is well-documented, but can anyone provide evidence that Ross wouldn't let Paul Dini use Wally West in the specials? Chancemichaels 16:00, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Chancemichaels

Okay, almost three months later, and nobody's been able to justify that line. I'm going to remove, if anybody can substantiate it please feel free to restore. --Chancemichaels 14:29, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Chancemichaels

[edit] Image use

I noticed the fair use tag (Non-free comic) used on images in this article seems to be incompatible with this use. Namely the this tag is for use in article about the "issue of the comic book in question", not the artist who made the image. The tag should probably be ((art)). Also the number of images in the article seems to violate WP:FAIR. 69.72.2.70 17:40, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Less popular Flash?

"During an interview with Wizard Magazine in its 167th issue, Ross states that his favorite Flash is the less popular Barry Allen"

Is this a personal judgement, or a quotation from the interview? By whose standard is Barry Allen considered "less popular?" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.192.21.42 (talk) 22:16, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] move page broke links?

It looks like this move page has left a lot of Alex Ross links now pointing to a disambiguation page. Would anyone care to fix this or should the move be reverted? -Wikianon (talk) 04:18, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

I've made a workaround repair. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics#Image issue. -Wikianon (talk) 05:59, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
As mentioned over there this doesn't need to be done and there is a good case for leaving this at Alex Ross. I can move this back if people want, at least until the issue is resolved. (Emperor (talk) 18:14, 7 March 2008 (UTC))
That move looks an excellent one to me. I'm sorry to see that it was reverted. Alexander Ross is now a disambig page that includes two Alec Rosses (as well as some seemingly dispensible Alexander Rosses) but links to a disambig page for Alex Ross (as well as listing one Alex Ross). "Alex Ross" is now this article, forcing a link back to a disambig for any other Alex Ross. Since most if not all Alex Rosses are actually Alexander Rosses and are sometimes so called, this article should be retitled Alex Ross (comic illustrator) or Alex Ross (comic artist) or whatever knowledgable people think is best, and then links to this article can gradually be worked on. After that's done, the Alex Ross disambig page should be merged with and redirected to Alexander Ross. -- Hoary (talk) 10:12, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
