[edit] Aleesha Taylor

Aleesha's name should be Taylor, EastEnders got their facts wrong... — AnemoneProjectors (zomg!) 22:14, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

There's no "should" or "shouldn't" - it's perfectly legal to take your mother's surname, even if your father's name appears on your birth certificate - one of my cousins is living proof of this... EastEnders didn't get their facts wrong, Demi and/or her family must have just decided she would be a Miller. -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 23:43, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
I just read that children can choose which parent's name they take (I don't know how that's possible when they're just born), but I was told (by a reliable source) that a child takes the father's surname and the mother can legally change it by deedpoll (but not if the father has a parental responsibility agreement). — AnemoneProjectors (zomg!) 00:11, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
They don't always automatically take the father's surname though... the parent who registers the birth can choose. -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 00:13, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
