Hi Dan,

Yes, it's Alec from Bon Jovi. The picture was taken in August of 2004.

Alec decided to get certified as a scuba diver and took classes with the dive shop I instruct for.

He is fine, and is a really great and funny guy. A few years back, he was injured in an accident (I think it may have been hit-and-run, but I'm not positive). He has some nagging aches and pains as a result, but he is still an active guy. He does not use a cane at all.

He's enjoying his retirement and says he does not miss the grueling schedule. He told me that he's about 10 years older than the rest of the guys in Bon Jovi, and the "rock star" life was getting to him at a time that the younger guys were still able to keep up the pace.

A really nice, down-to-earth person. Always upbeat, and always hilarious.

Regards, Mike Sabanos

[edit] Invalid Citation

The article says, quote,

"Alec John Such gave an interview with David Ling for a magazine and gave details of behind the scenes information and was asked to leave. Jon Bon Jovi once said "what goes on in the family, stays in the family." Jon tried to sue David Ling over the controversial quotes at first stating Ling was exaggerating, but Ling had the entire interview with Such on tape to back up the story."

There is then a reference for it at the bottom. But, nowhere in said source says anything about this. Should the statement go, or does anyone want to find a correct ref? Dealer Camel (talk) 01:47, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Neutrality

Why is there a NPOV tag on the article? I'd be inclined to remove it without supporting comments. I'm not in agreement with the third 'problem' either. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thedarxide (talkcontribs) 10:55, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

This concerns POV tag cleanup. Whenever an POV tag is placed, it is necessary to also post a message in the discussion section stating clearly why it is thought the article does not comply with POV guidelines, and suggestions for how to improve it. This permits discussion and consensus among editors. This is a drive-by tag, which is discouraged in WP, and it shall be removed. Future tags should have discussion posted as to why the tag was placed, and how the topic might be improved. Better yet, edit the topic yourself with the improvements. This statement is not a judgement of content, it is only a cleanup of frivolously and/or arbitrarily placed tags. No discussion, no tag.Jjdon (talk) 21:47, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bad performance on Albums?

This article cites "his quality of session recordings during the Cross Road" as a reason for leaving the band.

Hugh McDonald did all the studio recordings, so this wouldn't be a reason.

Jon has said Alec was making too many mistakes on stage and they could cover it up in the studio but not live. I guess I always assumed "covering it up" meant hiring Huey to re-record Alec's parts but I don't know whether Hugh ended up playing all the bass or just some. Either way, this probably caused more tension in the band, if anyone has a source to say so. :P Willo kenobi (talk) 04:39, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Hugh recorded runaway, and some people speculated that he recorded on other albums since he was brought in to "replace" Alec, but without a source, it's irrelevant.
Credits on all Bon Jovi albums has Hugh as the bassist, but I don't know where this is souced on the internet.
