Alexey Perminov (September 30, 1975 – June 12, 2000), commonly known by his stage names Grundig and Lelick, was a Russian hip-hop artist, prolific poet and a member of the well-known Moscow underground rap duo Рабы Лампы (Slaves of the Lamp) famous for their unique depressive and deeply emotional style. In general heavy bias towards despair and existential sickness was typical for post-soviet non-commercial hip-hop scene during the mid-1990s. In his lyrics Grundig touched upon the following major topics: drug addiction, scorn for bourgeois lifestyle and popular culture, alienation, miserable love and suicide. Unlike many contemporary Russian rappers Grundig's band never tried to copy western "gangsta" style.
Here is a rough English translation of a piece of lyrics from "Песенка Короткая Как Жизнь Сама":
Всё стараешься впихнуть в жизнь свои мечты
А люди между делом делят этот мир
Вот опять кто-то стоит у черты
Почему чужая игла в жопе не болит?
You’re trying so hard to shove dreams into your life
But people between this and then are severing this world
And once again someone’s standing in front of the line
So why another's needle do not ache in your ass?
