Alexandros Nikolaidis (born October 17, 1979 born in Thessalonica) is an Olympic taekwondo athlete from Greece. Initially the favorite, he eventually won the silver medal at the 2004 Olympics held in Athens after being knocked out by a reverse roundhouse kick (Jump Spinning Hook Kick) from his opponent and eventual gold medalist, Dae Sung Moon of South Korea.
On March 24, 2008 Alexandros Nikolaidis became the first torchbearer of the 2008 Summer Olympics torch relay.[1]
