Alexander Stewart (Congress)

Alexander Stewart (September 13, 1829May 24, 1912) was a member of the United States House of Representatives for Wisconsin from 1895 to 1901. He was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada and moved to Wausau, Wisconsin, where he became involved in the lumber industry. Stewart died in Washington, D.C. and was buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau.

He was a prominent person in the early days of Wausau and Stewart Avenue, one of the main roads in Wausau, is named in his honor.
