Alexander S. Bermange

Alexander S. Bermange (born 1976 in London, England) is an English musical theatre composer and lyricist. Bermange's music fuses pop-rock stylings with theatrical lyrics. An accomplished pianist, Alexander S. Bermange has often served as music director, orchestrator and pianist for his own productions.

Alexander S. Bermange grew up in Radlett, Hertfordshire, England, and attended the Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School in Elstree, England. While still at school, he wrote and staged his first musical, Nessie.

He studied Modern Languages at St Edmund Hall, Oxford where he obtained a BA Joint Honours Degree and Scholarship in German and French. While at Oxford University, in 1996 he staged Nessie at the Burton Taylor Theatre.

Since leaving Oxford University, he has written numerous musicals that have been produced around the UK, the USA and Europe. His musical Shadowless won two Frank Wildhorn Awards (the Audience Award and the Second Jury Award) at the Musical Festival Graz, Austria in 2007.

He is also renowned as a writer of comic songs, many of which have been broadcast on BBC Radio. Nineteen of his comic songs have been released on a CD entitled Weird & Wonderful - A Collection Of Songs Celebrating Weirdos And Weirdness, which features a number of international musical theatre artists, with sleeve notes by Tim Rice.
