Alexander Rappoport

Alexander Iosifovich Rappoport (b. 1959) is a Russian artist, born in Leningrad. He was a co-founder of Battle Elephants, an underground society of artists, writers and intellectuals in Leningrad in the 1980s.

In collaboration with Igor Polyakov, he founded Battle Elephants in 1984 after years of exhibiting in "apartment exhibitions." He exhibited in Russia, Israel, the Netherlands and other countries.

Recently Rappoport moved to Munich, Germany. Two of his paintings, Cat and Together, are on display at Vilna Gaon Jewish Museum.
