Alexander Lindsay, 4th Earl of Crawford acceded 1446, died September 1453.

Married Margaret Dunbar and had 3 children, Elizabeth, David 5th Earl born 1440 and Alexander the 7th Earl.

Known as "the Tiger Earl", Alexander was one of the most powerful of the Scottish nobles; for some time he was in arms against King James II as part of the Douglas rebellion, but he submitted in 1452, after the Battle of Brechin.
