Alexander Kazantsev

Alexander Petrovitch Kazantsev (2 September 190613 September 2002) was a popular Soviet science-fiction author. His magnum opus is The Destruction of Faena, a work that deals with a wide scope of problems from nuclear war to what it means being a human. He was also a well-known and successful composer of chess endgame studies. In 1975 he was awarded by the Permanent Commission of the FIDE for Chess Compositions (PCCC) the title of FIDE Master of Composition.
