Alexander Givental

Alexander Givental is a mathematician working in the area of symplectic topology, singularity theory and their relations to topological string theories. He got his Ph. D. under the supervision of V. I. Arnold. He, first, proved the mirror conjecture for toric Calabi-Yau manifolds, in particular for the quintics. He is now Professor of Mathematics in University of California, Berkeley.
