Alex Smith (born July 16, 1985 in Windsor, England) is an American soccer player who was last with FC Dallas of Major League Soccer.
Smith began his collegiate soccer career at Centenary College of Louisiana in 2003, where he scored 6 goals and 6 assists in 17 games. At the end of the season he transferred to Southern Methodist University. In 19 matches with the Mustangs he score 13 goals and assisted on four. Following the season he returned to England for trials at Shrewsbury Town F.C. and Walsall F.C.. Upon return in 2005 he was declared ineligible by the NCAA.
Determined to play soccer he decided to turn pro. He had a trial with the Kansas City Wizards in January before venturing to FC Dallas. He spent time with the Dallas reserve side before getting called up shortly after his birthday in July. At the end of the 2006 season, Smith was waived.
