Alex Neeson was a fictional character from the British ITV1 soap opera Coronation Street, played by Dario Coates. He made a first onscreen appearance on 17 December 2007. Information was known about the character before his debut because he was involved in the soap opera's child swap storyline.[1]

In October 2007 it was announced that Michelle Connor would find that her child was swapped at birth, and that Alex was in fact her real son.[2] The actor who plays Alex, Dario Coates stated in an interview that his character "Is just a normal teenager".[3]
Biological son of Michelle Connor and her late partner, Dean, he is currently living with his legal father, Nick Neeson. Nick and his wife, Wendy have divorced over the row about Alex not being their biological child.
It was later revealed that Alex would find out the truth from the very child he got swapped with. Nick's biological son, Ryan told Alex the truth when they fought in the street on 21 January 2008.[4]

On 15 February 2008 Alex moved in with Michelle and Ryan Connor, at the Rovers Return Inn. Whilst staying there, he caused a few problems. These included, 'losing' Amy when he was supposed to be looking after her, barricading himself in the pub, which led to a stand off in which Michelle talked him into opening the doors and driving Ryan out to live with Liam. He refused to go back and live with Wendy, causing a lot of pressure on Michelle. Alex moved out on 7 March after Steve said he had to go. Michelle was upset but was also glad to have Ryan back.
The character was next seen again On Friday 4 April, 2008, when Steve tried to persuade him to see his Michelle again, he said he would give it some thought.
The character was seen on Monday 7 April, 2008 and has met up with Michelle once more.
The character was last seen on Monday 28 April, 2008.
In June 2008, Alex will be involved in a drug storyline, where Ryan tries to get Alex to take ecstasy tablets as a punishment for the pain Alex put him through. Michelle takes them instead as Ryan spiked them in an drink of orange juice. Michelle will suffer life threatening fits in June.
