Alex K (born Alex Karbouris on 29 November 1979) is a DJ and record producer from Australia. He was signed at 16 years of age to Central Station Records in Australia.[1]
Alex K is the alias used for his 'bouncy' harder style of music. His fame began with Australia's biggest dance radio station, Wild FM. He created several of the megamixes that appeared on these compilations.
Alex K released his own dance albums titled 'Kicking Hard' in 1998, through Central Station Records. Kicking Hard 6 was to be the final in the series, due to Alex K's commitment overseas, but were continued in due course without Alex K's involvement.
Several of Alex K's singles were released between 1998 & 2000, in particular 'Pussywhipped & U Got It', with 'U Got It' being signed to UK hard house label, Nukleuz. This reached #6 on the UK Dance Chart.
Alex K has also remixed numerous mainstream and underground artists, including Backstreet Boys, Snoop Dogg, Kylie Minogue, Delta Goodrem & Fedde Le Grande.
Mid 2006 came Alex's new compilation series 'Ultimate NRG', through AATW/UMTV. It sold over 100,000 copies alone in the UK, and reached number 2 in the UK charts. It was the 36th biggest selling CD in the UK during 2006. Ultimate NRG 2 was released early 2007 and peaked at number 3 in the UK charts. AATW plan a release for Ultimate NRG 3 beginning of 2008.
Alex K is known for his 'bouncy/hi nrg' style of dance.
Alex K is currently living in Liverpool, UK, with residencies at several clubs across Britain & Spain including the Pleasurerooms.
He tours Europe frequently.
