Alex Carapetis (born 1982 in Adelaide, Australia) is a professional drummer, having been playing since the age of eleven. After studying jazz at the Adelaide Conservatorium for one year in 2000, he moved to Sydney in order to further his music career. In 2004 and 2005, Carapetis toured full-time with Jimmy Barnes in Australia and New Zealand. In July 2005, Alex toured with Delta Goodrem on Delta's Visualise Tour. Other artists with whom he has worked include Ian Moss, Diesel, Nathan Cavaleri, and Teenager (Nick Littlemore from PNAU).
In October 2005, Trent Reznor hired Carapetis to be the touring drummer for Nine Inch Nails due to incumbent drummer Jerome Dillon's health problems. His appointment came as a surprise to many fans, as he was not widely known before this time and had not previously worked with Nine Inch Nails. As of the KROQ Acoustic Christmas show in December, Alex was replaced by former fill-in drummer, Josh Freese. Since then Alex has worked as a top session drummer In Los Angeles. Alex just completed drums on several tracks on Robbie Williams' new record which is expected to drop late 08. He has also toured as the drummer with Phoenix France, Juliette Lewis and The Lix and Ellioit Yamin.
Alexs rock band Crash Hot are currently recording their debut album and about to begin touring internationally. In this band he is Jon Ivy... the John McEnroe of drums.
