Alena Arshinova

Alena Arshinova (Cyrillic: Алена Аршинова), born 1985 in Dresden in East Germany[citation needed], is a young political activist in Transnistria. Transnistria is an internationally unrecognised republic on the territory of the Republic of Moldova which is de facto independent. Her politics have been shaped by having lived most of her life in Transnistria and like most Transnistrians she is staunchly opposed to suggestions of unification with Moldova.

Arshinova leads the political youth organization Breakthrough (Russian: Proriv) which supports the continuation of the independence Transnistria.

In December 2005 Arshinova was interviewed for the German news magazine Der Spiegel.[1]
