Alemayehu Eshete

Alemayehu Eshete (also written Alèmayèhu Eshèté, as in French) is an Ethiopian Ethio-jazz singer active since the 1960s. He primarily sings in Amharic.
Volume 9 of the Ethiopiques series is devoted to his earlier music. Volume 22 of the same series covers his career between 1972 and 1974. Some of his songs have also appeared on volumes 3, 8, 10, and 13.
He is sometimes referred to as the Ethiopian James Brown.
