Aleksey Pavlovich Chapygin (Russian: Алексей Павлович Чапыгин; 17 October [O.S. 5 October] 1870 - 21 October 1937) was a Russian writer.
Born in the Olonets region, Chapygin began to write in 1903. His novel The Snow Covered Retreat, published in 1913, described peasant life in northern Russia.
Chapygin's other works include My Life (1929) and Along Trails and Roads (1933). His A Fragment of the Same Mirror and Roving People (1935) were left unfinished.
The historical novel Razin Stepan (1927) became a film in 1939. He also wrote a scenario for a film titled Mountain of Gold (1931).
