Alejandro Freire

Alejandro Freire /ˈfɾeɾe/ (born August 23, 1974 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a former first baseman in Major League Baseball who played for the Baltimore Orioles. He bats and throws right handed.

Freire made his major league debut with the Orioles on August 9, 2005. He was promoted after hit .299 with 19 home runs and 69 RBI in 106 games for the Triple-A Ottawa Lynx. At age 31, it had been a long way for Freire, who spent 14 seasons in the minors playing for the Astros, Tigers, Cardinals, Giants and Orioles systems.

In 25 games Freire hit .246 (16-for-65) with one home run and four RBI.

Following his majors stint, Freire returned to Triple-A Ottawa and also has played in the Venezuela Winter League.
