[edit] G41

I respectfully request permission to create a disambiguation page for "G41" and rename the G41 rifle page "Gewehr 41". There is an Imperial German torpedo boat SMS G41 and a Royal Navy destroyer HMS Panther (G41) which both have G41 in their names, in addition to the HK G41 rifle discussed previously. I will post this same message on the Talk pages of each of the WikiUsers listed on this discussion page. Pen of bushido 13:56, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for helping to clear out the uncategorized pages backlog - your work is much appreciated! Please remember to remove the uncat template from articles after you're done; otherwise they'll stay in the category. Thanks again, Crystallina 01:11, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kilt articles merge proposal

I have posted a counter-proposal in re your proposal to merge Irish kilt / Welsh kilt into the main kilt article. Essentially, my counter-proposal is to take the content (slightly re-worked) of the current kilt article and create a Scottish kilt article out of it. There is an article entitled kilt variants which could then (after some re-working) become the new main kilt article and which would discuss all of the various types of kilts (including the modern or contemporary kilt and the school uniform skirt, the latter of which is referred to by many as a kilt, though some would say that term is a misnomer in that instance).

This plan would leave the articles on the individual types of kilts in place (some in need of expansion).

My main concern is not with the particular organization of the various kilt articles, but that the discussion and information on the Scottish kilt not be compromised.

Please let me know on my talk page (or on the kilt article talk page how you view this counter-proposal.

[edit] Please use edit summaries

Hello. Please be courteous to other editors and use edit summaries when updating articles. The Mathbot tool shows your usage of edit summaries to be very low:

Edit summary usage for Aldis90: 49% for major edits and 3% for minor edits. Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.

Using edit summaries helps other editors quickly understand your edits, which is especially useful when you make changes to articles that are on others' watchlists. Thanks and happy editing! --Kralizec! (talk) 14:32, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks very much for your kind assistance with the pictures today. Much appreciated.

[edit] US naval jack

Noticed that you substitured the US naval jack for the US ensign on HMS Battler (D18). Are you aware of the discussions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ships/Archive05, sub-head "Always use ensigns?"? My interpretation is that ensigns are preferred, unless consensus is reached for use of the jack. Also, have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ships, where there's a table of maritime flags. You can specify a US flag and a date and it will generate the historically correct flag. Hope this helps. Folks at 137 10:41, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pariser Platz

I reverted you edit of 21:08, 16 November 2006. It just didn't make sense to create such a gap in the middle of an article. Cheers, Camptown 22:30, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Turkish Navy ships

The category Turkish Navy ships is specially for ships not for ship classes. For this reason, i'm reverting your categorization. Regards. E104421 11:41, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ranks of the PLA Air Force

Thanks for watching over Ranks_of_the_People's_Liberation_Army_Air_Force! In this particular edit [1] you didn't entirely resore the changes introduced by WP:LTA/Roitr. I wonder if it was intentional and some of the information is correct, or this was simply an error on your part? --Dmitry (talkcontibs ) 08:14, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Russian Naval Aviation

A tag has been placed on Russian Naval Aviation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 172.137.12.148 15:03, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I recreated the Russian Naval Aviation article few days ago. I noticed that you also tried to create it last month. So, if you are still interested to contribute, please feel free. Best regards, --Eurocopter tigre 20:22, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Troubled by this diff

This material [2] you inserted appear to be a copy and paste from Jane's Armour and Artillery. This is not a good thing. Could you review the rest of your contributions and make sure there are no other similar copy and pastes. Thank you. Megapixie 02:57, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Having reviewed - maybe you just moved someone elses copyvio [3] ? Megapixie 02:59, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
It was just a move from someone else's entry in another article, remove it if it's copyvio. ---Aldis90

[edit] Natsume Izayoi

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Natsume Izayoi, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://galaxyangel.wikia.com/wiki/Natsume_Izayoi. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 22:08, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 22:20, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Roitr / Skafult

It is definitely a sock of Roitr. I reported him to: Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism and added the follwoing template to Skafults userpage:

{{Subst:sockpuppet|Roitr|evidence=[[Wikipedia:Long term abuse/Roitr]]}}
 * {{Vandal|sockname}} sock of banned vandal Roitr ([[Wikipedia:Long term abuse/Roitr]]). ~~~~

This will get the sock banned forever. --noclador 22:57, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Update

Thanks for your message! I've been away from Wikipedia since June due to some health problems, so could you give me some update on where to look for his recent vandalism? I've already started a cleanup on my watched articles - hopefully this will cool the boy down and he would stop for a month or two, as it always happens when I wake up to log back on and start cleaning out his sh!t. :) --Dmitry (talkcontibs ) 16:29, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Army Groups of the National Revolutionary Army

Hello. Could you explain why you moved this article to Group Armies of the National Revolutionary Army, without any sort of discussion? (And also, "Army Group" to "Group Army" within the article.) You will find that "Army Group" is the translation used for 「集團軍」 within English publications by the NRA/ROCA and their affiliates. --Миборовский (talk) 00:11, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Who are these knowledgeable folks? I have a bunch of books and publications disagreeing with them. And even if the PLA uses "Group Army", the NRA/ROCA AFAIK do not. Миборовский (talk) 04:31, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Well, sources have to be reliable and verifiable, which forum postings are not. Not that I don't trust them, but I'd still trust my books more than forums. Миборовский (talk) 19:17, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Anything not from the CPC (and not from a website)? I refer you to 2 sources I have on hand at the moment: Hsu & Chang's History of the Sino Japanese War (1937-1945), which consistently uses "Army Group" (check the index) and Ho Ying-chin's Who Actually Fought the Sino-Japanese War 1937-45 ?, which refers to among other things "18th Army Group" and "Commander, Army Group". Миборовский (talk) 23:58, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Besides Hsu & Chang's book, there is a published book that is also on line in Chinese that covers the War from 1931 on.

This is a more recent mainland text, definately covers the pre 7/1937 parts of the conflict better than Hsu. Use of the Term "Army Group" in English may be different terms in Chinese simple characters which is 军团 Army Group. 集團軍 seems to be the traditional characters for Army Group. I think both should be put in the article to clear up the confusion. Asiaticus (talk) 09:35, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

About 2 weeks ago you said you'd look into some old sources regarding the translation for 集團軍, have you turned anything up? --Миборовский (talk) 05:51, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Chinese swords, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. [edit] Da Yuan Shuai

Wikipedia's article on Grand Marshal implies that the Republic of China had one or two ranks like Grand Marshal. Wikipedia's article on the Military of the Republic of China makes no reference to those ranks. Are they outdated? If so, as of when? I hoped you might know, since you recently made edits relating to that.

Also, the Grand Marshal article used to list Grand Marshal equivalent ranks for Imperial China, Communist China, and the Republic of China. But on 6 December 2007 someone deleted the links for Imperial China and Communist China, leaving just the Republic of China. Do you think they should be restored, given Wikipedia's new article for Da Yuan Shuai? - Shaheenjim (talk) 02:33, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
